She’s So Centsible! is a durational performance activated by the audience: participants insert coins into a coin acceptor to match the hourly minimum wage (€12.41), and the performer continues running for as long as the money lasts. The work explores the entanglement of domestic labour, energy, and financial responsibility within systems in which caregiving and economic provision are socially expected but structurally undervalued.
Wearing an LED costume, the artist runs on a treadmill in which speed, brightness, and duration are controlled by the spectators’ collective monetary input (euro cent coins), letting economic means regulate her body and turning it into a site of production and exhaustion.
During the performance, the ethical tensions of collective agency are revealed, drawing attention to group dynamics and decision-making, where shared responsibility can also re-inscribe relations of power.
