Artist Statement

My work emerges from an ongoing inquiry into subjectivity as an unstable and relational process. It begins with uncertainty — with inhabiting a female body and not knowing exactly who I am or how I have been shaped. Growing up within specific social and cultural structures led me to seek belonging elsewhere, only to encounter new forms of constraint, like escaping a tiger only to meet a crocodile (as the Thai saying goes.) I often feel that I am in a continuous state of being “under construction,” in the process of becoming human. It's the resistance to fixed identities, particularly the category of "woman" and my acceptance of becoming as something without a final form. The in-between state may be unstable, but it can also feel well balanced because it is my lived "truth". This state of becoming takes shape in my work through systems that combine electronic components and human participation. Sensors, resistors, transistors, inductors, and spectators function as elements within the same network. They are discrete and arbitrary, sometimes aligning, sometimes failing, and sometimes doing nothing at all. These fluctuations are central to the work and create space for collective knowledge-making. Our actions, inactions, interactions — intra-actions — generate both fear and courage, producing a shared stage for learning.

Bodies are not stable, gender is not fixed, spectators become co-actors, agency is negotiated, outcomes remain unpredictable, and meaning is co-produced.

For me, uncertainty is not only what the work performs. It is also a condition, a politics, and an aesthetic. The question is not exactly what it will become, but how uncertainty is accepted, inhabited, and allowed to continue.
